A woman’s naked body has been found at the Norwich Bus Station in Strand Street, Nelson Mandela Bay early this morning.
According to people at the scene, her body had been found in a cavity created by a broken lift in an elevator shaft at the bus station. The lift had apparently stopped half way down to the ground floor and created a cavity between the floor of the elevator and the floor of the elevator shaft, which is where the woman’s body had been found.
The woman had apparently been stripped naked, and showed signs of being severely beaten. Her clothes were found beneath her body.
Police spokesman, warrant officer Alwin Labans, confirmed that the body of an unknown woman, believed to be in her forties, had been discovered at the Norwich bus station.
“She was discovered by cleaners this morning at around 7.45am,” he said.
Labans said police were on the scene and a case of murder had been opened.
“Police are investigating and no arrests have yet been made,” he said.
