On Sunday the 7th December, a little girls wish came true in Lovemore Heights….
Ruben and Arlinda Klue , owners of Trees and Hedges, were asked by their friends from the Free State (good Samaritans who would prefer their names to be withheld) if they knew of a child in need, who might benefit from a special gift. Ruben and Arlinda are involved in outreach programs, so their friends from the free state entrusted them with some money to buy a special little girl a gift for Christmas. The gift would have been given to their grand daughter, but she was killed in a car accident 4 years ago. It was mentioned a couple of times in conversation with the good Samaritans, that the gift needed to be a bicycle and because it was their grand daughter who had lost her life, the recipient needed to be a little girl. There was one other guideline, the little girl’s parents wouldn’t be able to grant the child’s wishes and give their daughter a bicycle for Christmas
Arlinda called Reach for a dream to find out if there was a little girl dreamer who wanted a bicycle, but alas, there wasn’t a wish to be filled there.
Then one day Arlinda drove past the Groostendorsts’ home in Lovemore Heights, all beautifully decorated, with a letters to Santa mail box displayed in the front of the house. They wondered if a little girl had written to Santa and asked for a bike….
Ruben spoke to Henk and Lila Grootendorst, to find out if Santa had received any letters from a little girl dreaming about a bicycle and there was nothing…
Then, to Lila and Henks amazement, the very next day, Santa received a letter from a little girl, named Chloe. Chloe requested a bicycle for Christmas and so the match in heaven began. The letter was passed on to Arlinda, who tried to make contact with Chloes’ mom, Natasha. Arlinda was about to give up as she could only reach Natasha’s voicemail, then after a day, Natasha called back.
Natasha was asked if she was in the financial position to grant her daughter Chloe’s Christmas wish, but alas she couldn’t, as bicycles are too expensive.
Arlinda immediately knew that this was the little girl who needed to be blessed.
A very special event was arranged at the Grootendorsts Christmas home. The elves gathered and waited for their special little girl to arrive. They paced up and down the road, waiting and calling her name – “Chloe, Chloe…”. Eventually Chloe stepped out from the crowd and after a quick chat to the lead elf, Lila, she was whisked upstairs and was hidden under the elf’s skirt. Father Christmas arrived and Chloe got to see her wish come true.
In speaking to Arlinda after the event, she told me of the honour and privilege this experience was, to be able to be part of blessing a precious little girl. She said that God once again showed us that everything we have is by HIS grace and we need to spread HIS goodness as much and as often as we can, with little, to no recognition.
It was so special to be part of Chloe’s dream – we know that she will remember this Christmas for the rest of her life.
