Why adult stem cells are so amazing

14 October 2013 By MyPortElizabeth

Scientists have uncovered an incredible ‘secret’ held within every human being. It seems that having an abundance of adult stem cells massively improves both longevity and health. What makes these cells so special is their ability to develop into many different cell types. When a stem cell divides, it either becomes another type of cell (e.g. a muscle or brain cell), or it remains a stem cell. These cells act as an internal repair system in all types of tissues, dividing many times over to replenish other cells.

We produce these cells throughout our lives, but they diminish in quantity and quality as we age. This means that just when we need strong stem cells the most, we become more deficient in them.

In an incredible experiment, scientists brought a dead rat’s heart back to life. They rebuilt it from a framework of tissue filled with young rat stem cells. They stripped the heart of its cells and then used the remaining frame as the basis for the new heart. After being cultured in a laboratory, the cells started to beat in rhythm. Within a few days, the ‘reconditioned’ heart actually began to pump blood!

This has resulted in an interest in looking at restoring organs for transplant operations, but is an area of medicine that may take many years to evolve.

Can they help with anti-aging? Apart from helping to restore internal organs, immune systems and more, adult stem cell therapies may offer a potent anti-aging benefit through the restoration of old skin.

Aging occurs as a result of free-radical (oxidative) damage to the body. This damage can be exacerbated by excessive alcohol intake, smoking, poor diet and high stress levels.

Since stem cells are at the core of the body’s renewal process, it could prove fruitful to further promote stem cell activity through supplementation. In this way, you could potentially reduce the effects of aging.

There is a product available on the market that promises to enhance your own natural stem cell output by up to 25-30%. This is a pretty astounding promise, so we decided to try it out…

How it helped Stuart and Tanya’s injuries: Both Stuart and Tanya recently experienced bad injuries. Tanya had a spinal injury from a horse-riding fall and Stuart had a shoulder dislocation from surfing. We took our stem cell supplement at full dosage for 2 weeks and were blown away by the speed at which we recovered.

In Stuart’s case, since he’d dislocated his shoulder a few times previously, we knew it usually took 4-5 weeks for recovery, but he was ready to surf again in half that time.

Now, always keep in mind that a healthy diet and optimal hydration are an essential ‘basic’ before you look at taking supplements. If, though, you are experiencing injuries, poor energy, poor recovery and any other issue related to less-than-optimal health, you might want to consider it as a primary addition to your daily diet.
