Wednesday night was the coldest night in Port Elizabeth this year at 3.1o C just before sunrise, the South African Weather Services office in Port Elizabeth said.
“[However,] the coldest place in the Eastern Cape was Buffelsfontein at -9,6o C,” described Garth Sampson, SA Weather Services Client Liaison Officer for the Eastern Cape.
Other Notable minimum temperatures were;

- Uitenhage 1.4o C
- Graaf Reinet -2.5o C
- Cradock -0.3o C
- Queenstown -1.8o C
- Somerset East -3.3o C
- Jamestown -3.6o C
- Elliot -2.9o C
“East London was not so cold at 7.9C, but George got rather chilly at 4.2o C,” said Sampson.
“It will warm up by tomorrow, but will cool down again over the weekend.
“Minimum temperatures will however remain low, with minimum cloud cover and thus maximum outgoing radiation.”
