Today the Democratic Alliance Youth marked the launch of its ‘We Demand A Better Future Today’ campaign. The National launch was held in Pretoria and the Eastern Cape DA Youth launched this campaign in Humansdorp.
Today we commemorate the youth of 1976 and the DA Youth demands action from our government to ensure the following:
- Every qualifying matriculate must be granted the opportunity to further their education. Nobody should be left behind simply because they cannot afford to study. We call on government to increase the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) budget to R16 billion per year.
- Every school must deliver quality basic education. Government must ensure that Annual National Assessments in Grade 3, 6 and 9 are internationally benchmarked and independently marked to enhance the quality of our education system.
- More jobs are created for young people. If government works with the business community, we can facilitate one million internships every year.
Many young people have been left behind for far too long due to lack of education, insufficient funds for their education and poor work prospects. The voices of millions can no longer go unheard; the DA Youth demands a better future today!
