This week marks the National Water Week, a week when all South Africans are called upon to intensify the efforts on programmes of water awareness and preservation. In a bid to curb water wastage and raise awareness about water conservation, Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality (NMBM) has decided to direct this year’s National Water Week at schools. The rational behind this decision is to take the message to pupils and teachers with the hope that they will take the message back to their homes and communities. The three day programme will see the municipality a team of municipal officials going to different schools across the city raising issues of water awareness, conservation, efficient use and recycling. The school programmes will include, water awareness exercises, competitions and projects.
