Two suspects aged 20 and 50 years old will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates’ Court on Friday on charges of murder and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
It is alleged that on 17 February 2016, Thembinkosi Faku (late 20’s) was gunned down in his room in Sigcawu Street Walmer location. The owner of the house heard gunshots and asked her neighbour to investigate. Three men were seen leaving the Faku’s room which is situated at the back of the house.
On Tuesday, 23 February 2016 members of the PE Flying Squad and Walmer police acted on a ‘tip-off’ of an illegal firearm at a house in Ncukuthu street Walmer location. Two suspects were arrested for the alleged murder of Faku and a .357 Magnum revolver was also confiscated by police. The suspects were detained at SAPS Walmer.
Police are urging communities not to be silent about crime and criminal activities in their areas but to report anything suspicious to them.
