Pirates, who lost the MTN8 Final to Kaizer Chiefs last weekend, were undone again, this time via David Zulu’s seventh minute strike at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Zulu went on a weaving run before clinically finishing past Senzo Meyiwa for his fourth goal of the season. Vermezovic, however, felt the Bafana Bafana newcomer should never have been allowed such free rein in the Bucs half.
Vermezovic said: “Look, congrats to them for their win today. I said to my players if our aggression is at the same level as them, then it’s gonna be good. Today we were not aggressive.
“Against Chiefs we had a silly mistake, and again today. I don’t understand how one guy can run 80 meters. I don’t know how anyone can’t stop him or make a foul. That is something I can’t understand.
“We lost three points and have to now prepare for the next team.”
The Serbian added: “I couldn’t recognise our team, the team that started the season with a high level, possession. Except today they did not play with a lot of running, with nothing in the middle of the camp.
“We have to regroup, and as soon as possible to try and get back our game.”
