The annual Varsity College Schools Quiz powered by Algoa FM was held on the 21st of August at Victoria Park High School. The School Quiz saw a total of 35 teams representing 19 schools from the Port Elizabeth area. The Quiz involves three rounds, each consisting of seven categories including current affairs, sport, entertainment, history, geography and the environment, arts and literature and general knowledge.
The Schools Quiz is an annual event for high school pupils and is sponsored by Varsity College and hosted by its eight campuses nationwide. Kevin Johnson, National Stakeholder Manager says: “Varsity College is delighted to be able to continue to offer the Annual School Quiz. As sport is important so is the need to be in touch with the environment within which we live. This is exactly what the School Quiz aim to do, draw students to be in touch with the world within which they interact. However, the School Quiz would not be possible if it were not for the continued and valued support of the participating schools and sponsors. Our appreciation and thanks go to each of you and we at Varsity College look forward to continuing the Schools Quiz journey with you”.
This year was the fourth year that saw a collaboration between Varsity College and Algoa FM. Part of the collaboration was that in the lead up to the schools quiz 5 schools were selected to go up against the DMB (Daron Mann Breakfast Show) live on air in studio. The quiz master both on air and at the actual event was Daron Mann.
