The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber was privileged to receive a visit from our sister city grouping Jacksonville, in the U.S. State of Florida, along with the Metro for an exploratory tour on the potential synergies between our cities and how we can look at economic growth and development for both regions.
Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber CEO Kevin Hustler gave the delegation a full briefing on the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber, the city’s Industrial Development Strategy as well as the Business Vision 2030 and potential future catalytic projects in our region.
“The meeting was an outstanding success with both parties appreciating the opportunities and synergies between our twin cities. The way forward is for us to establish a strong working relationship with Jacksonville Sister Cities Association and the Jacksonville Business Chamber,” said Hustler.
A representative of the Jacksonville Mayor’s office, Dr. Charles Moreland, highlighted the six priority sectors for the economy of Jacksonville Florida;
1. Advanced Manufacturing
2. Health Sciences
5. Info telecommunication
In the coming year, the parties have agreed to pursue these priority sectors and further discussions will be had between themselves and the city on a possible outward delegation from Nelson Mandela Bay comprising of city leadership, business and academia during the latter part of 2017
