This dance production has been directed and choreographed by Nicki-Ann Rayepen and scripted by Aarti Narotam, both staff in the department, while set and lighting design will be handled by NMMU Senior Manager of Arts Culture, Mr Michael Barry.
The show will feature NMMU students Kuda Majonga, Siyabonga Spelman, Andile Nabo, Shareez Klaasen, Kelly Murphy, Kelly Adams, Rochelle Velkers, Courtney Mattheus.
Embracing the theme of “moving-forward”, this production depicts students embarking on their graduation, but the celebrations and joy are not without fear for what the future holds.
This dance-drama serves to explore some of the challenges students encounter while journeying towards their own inner truths. Whilst playing with stereotypes, this work delves into how fears overcome us and, at those times, dance as a medium provides the exact outlet needed. Explorative, contradictory and stark, join us as we embark on an exploration of the diversity through which our youth are expected to flourish.
