With years of involvement in the annual SHOWTIME Awards and Musical Review – Nelson Mandela Bay’s premier theatre development programme – Magnetic Storm has been listed as a finalist at the 15th Annual Business Arts South Africa (BASA) Awards, in support of the SHOWTIME initiative. What makes the nomination even more special is the honour of being listed as a finalist for not only one, but two award nominations at these prestigious national awards supported by ANGLO AMERICAN in 2012.
The BASA awards recognise and promote excellence and innovation in the field of business support for the arts and are open to all companies sponsoring arts events, projects or organisations in South Africa and to all companies sponsoring South African arts events abroad. The ceremony will be taking place on 27 August 2012 at the WITS Art Museum in Johannesburg.
Nominations for the BASA Awards were made in 12 Categories with Magnetic Storm listed as a finalist in the following:
- SPONSORSHIP IN KIND, as well as
- SUSTAINABLE PARTNERSHIP (in support of the PE Showtime Theatre Awards and Young Talent Development)
The Annual SHOWTIME Awards are unique to Port Elizabeth, recognising achievements in theatre and production by local talent, while creating a platform for amateur thespians to move onto national stage productions over the past 21 years.
