Result: Chippa United 1-2 University of Pretoria
Date: 20 August 2014
Venue: Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium
AmaTuks registered their first victory of the 2014/15 season, beating Chippa United 2-1 in an Absa Premiership encounter played at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Tuks made their intentions to win match clear from the start of the match, when Ronald Ketjijere broke the deadlock just three minutes into the match.
It was from that moment that the university team took control of the match with Thabo Mosadi trying another effort to increase the score, but it was easily stopped by Chilli Boys goalkeeper, Tshepo Motsoeneng.
Chippa managed to get back into the game half way through the first half, creating some goals scoring chances through Thamsanqa Sangweni.
The home side had their coach, Kosta Papic, on the bench for the first time after he got his work permit, but he found it very tough to inspire his team in the first half, having conceded an early goal.
With the match heading towards the half-time break, the visitors struck again for their second goal of the match, through an Atusaye Nyondo right footed strike to give Tuks a 2-0 lead.
The second stanza of the match started with Chippa gaining the upper hand and their efforts were rewarded shortly after the restart, with David Zulu, finding the back of the net to reduce the deficit to 2-1.
The goal seemed to have revived the home side who made better attempts to find an equalising goal.
Tuks, however held ,on despite scary moments in the dying minutes of the game, to register their first win of the new season.
