University of Pretoria captain, Tebogo Monyai, says tonight’s game against Chippa United is a must win.
Tuks are now playing their third game of the new 2014/15 PSL season and without a win, but Monyai says they aim to get away from the bottom of the log.
The Tshwane-based side lost 1-0 to Polokwane City and drew 1-all against Bidvest Wits last week, and now aim for a victory against the PSL returnees.
“This is a must win game for us, not only to take us away from the bottom of the table but to also boost morale going into the home clash against Free State Stars. Whether or not their coach will be available on the bench will not make a difference, we will proceed with our own game plan. We have faced Chippa before and we understand the way they play and we are very confident that we will walk away with all three points,” said Monyai tells the club’s website.
Former Chilli Boys defender, Vuyisile Ntombayithethi, also commented that he wants to do his job and he targets a win tonight.
“It makes no difference that they are my former team, I am here to do my job and whenever I put on my jersey I play to win. These three points are important for us and we will play out of our skins to get them. It is that simple,” added the Queenstown-born player.
The Siya crew has learnt that a win for Steve Barker’s side will be highly welcomed as a birthday present for central defender, Siyabonga Shoyisa who turns 26 today.
Both sides gained promotion to the PSL in the 2012/13 season and their two encounters produced five goals. The game gets underway tonight at 19:30 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
