Local entrepreneurs and respected seamen, Rod Lochhead and Morven Maclean were welcomed into the Port of Port Elizabeth at a function hosted by the Algoa Bay Yacht Club this morning – In a new adventure offering for locals and tourists Stampede Cruises and Blue Pearl will offer unique boat based excursions that include, PE Waterfront cruises, Island cruises and more.
Giving the support of Transnet National Ports Authority to the new tourism offerings based out of ABYC, the Port of Port Elizabeth Port Manager, Rajesh Dana also touched on the proposed PE Waterfront saying; “The establishment of the Port Elizabeth Waterfront will not only transform the face of the physical port itself but more importantly will transform not only the entire economy of Nelson Mandela Bay but also the Eastern Cape Region.”
The Transnet National Ports Authority has based the PE Waterfront on a few pillars:
- The PE Waterfront to form part of the inner city rejuvenation project to be seen as a vital cog in the re-energising of Nelson Mandela Bay
- Restoration of the historical linkages between Port and City
- To preserve the rich history and culture of Nelson
