Expect outrageous outfits, men in wigs, miniskirts, fishnet stockings and a weird assortment of footwear and hundreds of amused spectators as the Ladies, Men’s and Waiters races get underway from 11:00 am. Participants will race the 100m distance between the Boardwalk’s beachfront entrance and News Cafe with loads of lucky draw prizes and BOS Ice Tea up for grabs.
Local organisers Michael and Sandy Zoetmulder said the event was a fun way to get people to support charity and this year the event will support the Yokhuselo Haven, a home for abused women and children which this year celebrates it’s 25th anniversary. All participants and spectators are encouraged to also support the Haven through the contribution of women’s toiletries and children’s toys.
Online entry fee for this fun event is just R60 with late entries being accepted on the morning from 9:00 am at R70. Participants in the Waiters race aren’t required to wear heels but should bring their own tray which they will use to carry Bos ice tea as part of their race.
