There is plenty at stake in this weekend’s programme of Eastern Province club rugby matches with several teams fighting for survival.
In the first division of the Mayoral Cup, Harlequins face a critical fixture against Progress at Uitenhage’s Central field on Saturday (September 19). Quins lost their opening game against Spring Rose and must now try to stop the Uitenhage side taking a firm hold on pool A after Progress shaded Rose 16-15 last weekend.
Spring Rose, meanwhile will be looking to get their challenge back on track against Suburban at Kleinskool.
In the only match in pool B, Windvogel, who lost their opening game against Gardens, take on Star of Hope, who will be playing their first match of the competition.
There are several playoff matches taking place in Despatch, with the chief focus on Crusaders’ bid to keep their Grand Challenge berth when they play Born Fighters in a promotion-relegation encounter.
The Adams Cup final will also be decided in Despatch tomorrow at 1.30pm when Orlando Eagles play Alderonians.
