Now that the #Budget2014 is done and dusted I think about what the Longhair and have I say about our international tax consultant sister and in-law that some call; “Aunty” – accounting is boring, boring, boring. AND, now that the male joy of our union is in his BCom Accounting Honours year our lives are filled with the clickety clack of electronic abacus (abaci?) and dry financial tomes examining the PAST performance of various enterprises – bloody bean counters have forgotten how to look forward and have fun!
Of course our inboxes were flooded the whole of Budget Day with what can only be termed a group effort by the accountants to raise some awareness out of the Longhair and I of the importance of Budget Day 2014 – to my mind Budget Day is filled with double entendre (or was it entries or menage a trois – calculator, tax table and I possibilities?). Still boring but I suppose it could be marked as p*rn day for accountants!
At the end of the day we all know that the budget will be adjusted to suit the ruling party who need to feed the vote machine so they will give to those who are most likely to vote for them and take from those who are living on the fat of the land.
I live for the day, though, when our Finance Minister employs a little theatrics on the day. My suggestion is that he takes a leaf out of Till Lindeman from Rammsteins book and sets himself on fire whilst announcing something really earth shattering.

As the female unit of our union has been heard to say; “Let’s put the FUN back in FUNeral!”
