CAPE TOWN – A Port Elizabeth doctor has underwent surgery at the St George’s Hospital after she was stabbed in a main artery in her arm during a robbery, Eastern Cape police said on Saturday.
The woman and her fiancé were robbed by an unknown man at the Sacramento Trail in Schoenmakerskop on Friday.
The armed man fired a shot and demanded the two handover their belongings.
The police’s Stanley Jarvis said no arrests have been made.
“The unknown male pulled out a knife and stabbed the Indian lady on the arm and severed one of her arteries.” She then started bleeding and an ambulance was called.
“She was taken to the St George’s hospital where she was immediately operated on.”
