Fitting words for Port Elizabeth filmaker, Brett Gieseke to end his Superbowl advert off with.
Brett Gieseke is a filmmaker based in Port Elizabeth who, along with Kevin Meiring, of New City Studios recently produced an entry for the Doritos Crash the Superbowl competition. This contest was, for the first time, opened to the international community of film makers who were challenged to make an advert and compete for a prize of $1 million plus the opportunity to team up with Marvel on the set of The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Out of the 25 semi-finalists, 5 entries will be chosen, with the top 2 ads being aired during the Super Bowl in 2014.
Brett and Kevin’s entry is based on the Doritos slogan – For the Bold – takes place in space and has an interesting twist in the ‘punchline’.
Out of 1000s of entries theirs was the only South African entry to have made it into the top 25 last week. Brett says; “We’re hoping to get South Africans behind it as the competition is quite tough and we need as many positive ratings as possible to go through into the finals.”
“Our entry was the result of a month of brainstorming and pursuing different directions until we finally decided to go with the ‘peace offering’ concept. By then we had 2 days to film and edit the advert. With just the two of us, a makeshift green screen and a Canon 5D, we completed the advert with only a few hours to spare.”
“We hope you enjoy the advert – it’s not meant to be taken too seriously – we had fun making it and hope you will have fun watching.”
Brett and Kevin now represent Africa, South Africa and Port Elizabeth and are asking for your considered opinions and help to promote their advert.
