Stay of the roads and cancel your flight plans from 10h00 tomorrow. Better yet, put in for a half day leave.
Those fat black cars with blue flashing lights, the drone of helicopters and ‘decoy convoys’ will herald the arrival of President Jacob Zuma who will be presiding over the official launch of the Port of Ngqura in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape.
This launch of the Port of Ngqura takes place one week after the President officially opened the Dube TradePort in Durban. Both projects were outlined in the State of the Nation Address in which the President unveiled a major infrastructure development programme which he personally leads through the Presidential Infrastructure Coordination Commission.
The Port has been in construction for the last 12 years and has been integrated with the planning of the Coega Industrial Development Zone (IDZ) for efficiency and the resulting economic benefit to businesses located in the area. It is of major strategic importance for the country and the global maritime industry.
Now, what to wear to the launch? Should I go in my power tie and suit, maybe my old camouflage combat suit or, better yet I think I will take some fashion tips from the Best Dressed Bodyguard in South Africa!
