Our bodies are electrical in nature – the heart, brain, muscles, cells and all body systems function electrically. Throughout our history, and until very recent times, man has walked, slept and sat on the earth – skin to skin, as it were. In this way and without knowing it, we were naturally discharging electrical stress and restoring the body’s natural and stable electrical state. Going barefoot is one of the best ways to achieve this.
Modern lifestyles: The implications are massive when you consider our current, modern lifestyles. We sleep ungrounded and frequently next to one or more electrical appliances (bedside lamps, clock radios, cell phones), which emit their own electro-magnetic frequencies, interfering with our own internal frequencies.
We wear rubber-soled shoes, cutting off any potential grounding we may receive from the earth, and expose ourselves daily to sound carrying waves, microwaves, radiation and other electro-magnetic pollution (think TVs, PCs, cell towers and phones, radio towers, microwave ovens, washing machines, hair-dryers, electric shavers etc.).
To quote the Earthing Institute website (www.earthinginstitute.net); “We know that Earthing allows a transfer of electrons (the Earth’s natural, subtle energy) into the body. We know that inflammation is caused by free radicals and that free radicals are neutralized with electrons from any source. Electrons are the source of the neutralizing power of antioxidants.”
Never before in the history of mankind have we seen such chronic diseases occurring. Most, if not all, appear to be directly related to the degree of inflammation experienced by the body (and it’s cells, specifically).
Getting healthy: So it seems that one of the most effective ways to reduce inflammation (along with a wholesome diet, adequate hydration, enough sleep, regular exercise, good breathing technique and a positive mindset) is to make sure you find time to earth yourself daily.
The reality however, of our lives these days, is that some will find this near impossible to do, due to time constraints. This has led to the development of grounding products – mats (for using when seated for long periods), sheets (for sleeping) and body bands (portable and cheaper than the other options).
As yet, I’ve only found one company providing these – www.earthfx.net, based in America. The mats are made from carbonised rubber or poly/cotton (depending on the product), threaded with silver conductive wires. The units connect to the earth with a grounding cord, which connects into an electrical outlet or to an earthing grounding rod system.
The cheaper solution is of course, to spend more time as humans should – on the earth, outdoors in fresh air and breathing deeply in a relaxed state!
