No consideration for residents I HEARTILY endorse the comments of M Read (“Tone down noise”, May 9) with regard to noise pollution in Richmond Hill. The noise emanating from the Westbourne Oval is exacerbated by the announcers believing that, in addition to using a megaphone or a PA system, all announcements must be shouted at maximum volume. One Dies as Stone Wall Collapses on Marine Drive

Eye on Community Editor’s Notes: The stone wall fell over whilst workers were excavating a trench to lay cables to carry telephone and bandwidth traffic. Am I being unfair by saying that I can already seeing lawyers getting rich as the various contractors, sub-contractors and municipal authorities point fingers at … [Read more...]

Prior to this goalless draw, Bay Stars had won every home match. … [Read more...]

Sexual Offences Act is Against our Children

The Cape High Court last week held that some sections of the Sexual Offences Act did not have any punitive measures nor any stipulated punishment clauses, leaving our children to the mercy of sexual predators who will take advantage of this gross and incompetent omission. The Act doesn’t have penalties for sexual assault, child pornography, and incest, sexual exploitation of children or “grooming” of children for sexual exploitation. How on earth can this act be a deterrent without … [Read more...]
