Three suspected gang members, Wendell Pietersen (29), Keith Bowkers (31) and Brendan Lucas ( 32), are expected to appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on a charge of attempted murder after they were arrested by the Gang Task Team on Saturday.
They were remanded in custody by the same court on Monday when they made their initial court appearance.
“It is alleged that on Friday, 25 March 2016 at about 20:48, the victims, aged 33 and 40 years old, were sitting in front of their house in Glendinning Street, in Shauderville, Port Elizabeth, when a minibus drove passed and stopped opposite the road,” said police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu.
“Several shots were fired from the minibus. The 40 year-old victim sustained gunshots to his arm and upper thigh while the 33 year-old sustained a gunshot wound to his left knee.”
A case of attempted murder was opened.
On Saturday, 9 April 2016, members from the Gang Task Team arrested the three suspects at their homes in Gelvandale.
