CampusKey, the premier provider of student accommodation in South Africa, has opened the doors to its second residence in Port Elizabeth. Situated in Scarborough Street, Summerstrand, the building offers 300 beds, increasing their total number of beds to 444 in the Friendly City.
Says Leon Howell, MD of CampusKey: “Our Scarborough residence in Port Elizabeth is ideally situated close to Marine Drive in Summerstrand for students to maintain a balanced lifestyle. Besides offering wonderful views of the ocean and surrounding landscape, it’s also close to all amenities including the beach, shopping centres, restaurants and night life. We’re currently offering amazing deals on Facebook.”
The building offers luxury furnished, two non-sharing bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and a shared kitchen. The rooms are furnished to the highest standard with a ¾ quality bed, en-suite bathroom with shower, study area, built-in wardrobes, a wall-mounted panel heater and a 40” LED TV with the option of an additional DStv bouquet. The kitchen, fitted with a fridge, microwave, kettle and Snappy Chef stove, is only shared with one other student, which makes the Studio Deluxe the ideal two-bedroomed apartment. Security is of the utmost importance and all rooms are fitted with biometric access control. Furthermore, the residence offers uncapped Wi-Fi, state-of-the-art gym facilities onsite, as well as communal areas with pool- or foosball tables, DStv, laundry facilities, braai areas and a communal kitchen. All the above mentioned facilities are provided in the all-inclusive service and residence fee paid by the students.
Howell continues that CampusKey’s #Community enables its 4 000 plus students countrywide to connect with one another and at the same time, improve their CampusKey and student life experience. He explains: “Our goal is to create a collaborative, vibrant student community at each CampusKey building and campus, as well as nationwide.”
Many of the students come from Europe, the USA and Far East to NMMU for a semester on an exchange programme. “For many students, it’s also the first time they leave home and their accommodation is one of the most important factors in their happiness and critical for academic success. Going to a new city to study provides many opportunities to learn new things, see new places and meet different people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.”
Howell believes CampusKey Student Living is setting the standard for secure student living in South Africa. “Security is one of our biggest priorities. With cutting-edge biometric access, trailblazing CCTV surveillance systems, secure bicycle storage, basement parking areas and a hands-on dynamic management team, CampusKey students can start their university life with ease. We offer everything they need – great locations, a vibrant student community with weekly events, a room which is fitted with everything you need, and so much more!”
CampusKey Student Living has established a national footprint with campuses at well-established universities. These include the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, the University of Cape Town, the University of the Free State, the University of the North-West, Stellenbosch University, Pretoria University and in 2019 also the University of Johannesburg.
