Cape Town – The Stormers are set to include Eastern Province Kings back Scott van Breda when they announce their Super Rugby squad later on Friday, Die Burger’s website reports.
The Stormers are in search of a wing following the departure of Bryan Habana and Gerhard van den Heever.
Van Breda played fullback for the majority of the Kings’ Currie Cup First Division campaign last year, but can also be utilised at wing.
The Stormers coaches have made it known that they are searching for a big and physical wing to add some bulk to their backline.
Van Breda, at 1.87m and 96kg, is of considerable size, but whether he fits the bill in terms of experience remains to be seen.
Van Breda, who turned 22 last month, was schooled at Rondebosch Boys’ High in Cape Town before heading to Port Elizabeth after school.
Meanwhile, the Stormers are also looking to add depth to the scrumhalf position following the departure of Dewaldt Duvenage to France.
Lions No 9 Tian Meyer is reportedly in the Stormers’ sights as an addition to incumbents Nic Groom and Louis Schreuder.
The Stormers squad will head to Hermanus on Monday for a training camp ahead of the Super Rugby season.
