Remove yourself from the emotions that are being swept up in the bosoms of Destroyers and Destroyees of monuments in South Africa and let us look for the invisible hand or, as journalists and policemen the world over say; “Follow the money”.
The money is in next year’s elections – plain and simple. Whoever wins retains power and control over the purse strings. Whoever wins does not give a fig about you or me. Whoever wins will be just like politicians the world and history over – greedy, lying, trough snuffling piglets growing fat on gravy and stuff.
Ask yourself who will ultimately benefit from this destruction going on?
Will the EFF gain more votes and be swept into power?
Will political parties presently painted as colonialist now gain more sympathy votes?
Who will present themselves as the moderate non-racist political solution for South Africa and retain power?
Who is bankrolling the EFF to continue with these mischievous deeds?
Of course people writing articles such as this one – The 4 black lies about land in South Africa. Bantu (black Africans) DO NOT have default right to land – have been (unwittingly?) sucked into further causing dissent and dividing the citizens of South Africa by making such spurious claims. One more ‘great lie’ about the past is now being spread by smug self serving apologists – my mail box and social media account has been swamped with people claiming one-upmanship on the back of this argument.
Let us go back even further in time and remember Mrs Ples – “Mrs Ples” is the most complete skull of an Australopithecus africanus specimen ever discovered. The skull was found encased in breccia (a rocky matrix) at Sterkfontein in 1947, by palaeontologist Dr Robert Broom and his assistant, John Robinson.
The discovery of “Mrs Ples” helped to highlight the view that humankind was born in Africa – a theory that most scientists were sceptical of at the time.
Accepting that Dr Broom’s find proves that mankind originated in South Africa leads one to admit that Africans then went on to colonise the rest of the world. AND, that Jan van Riebeeck et al, along with the Bantu colonisers referred to in the article about land in South Africa are ALL ‘exiles’ or African that returned to South Africa at one time or another. NOT only that but then every single person in the world is an AFRICAN – which makes me immensely proud to say.
Can we now please get on and build our country?
And as I published this article – one other by News24 popped up in my Alert Stream: ANC members clean statue damaged by EFF – scary when I appear to be right!
The history of South Africa can’t be removed and every culture’s history has to be protected for the next generation, Eastern Cape ANC MPL Christian Martin said, Netwerk24 reports.
While members of the ANC cleaned the statue [in Uitenhage] that was burnt by EFF members last week, Martin said that history tells you where you come from and what happened.
“Therefore we decided to clean the statue. The ANC has to take the lead as the ruling party to ensure that every culture’s history is protected.
“Mistakes from the past have to change your life to prevent it from happening again. No one’s history should be broken down to benefit another’s.”
He repeated his call to people who want to damage apartheid and colonial statues to make a contribution to history, rather than destroying it.
