It is the biggest IRONKIDS race in the world and its home is in Nelson Mandela Bay. Spur IRONKIDS South Africa entries are open for 2015 and with entry slots limited to 1000, a place into this popular race is the hottest ticket in town.
Every child is made to feel like a winner as no times are taken with the focus being on participation. The race starts at McArthur’s Pool and Leisure Centre before finishing at Hobie Beach under the same finisher arch where the IRONMAN athletes will cross the next day.
Spur IRONKIDS aims to encourage children to participate in healthy outdoor activities, to feel the sense of accomplishing a goal and just to have fun. It is fitting that the kids have an event of their own and are made to feel a part of the big IRONMAN weekend in Nelson Mandela Bay.
Spur IRONKIDS is open to children ages 6 – 13 with those in the 6 – 9 age group swimming 60 metres and running 1.2 kilometres and children in the 10 – 13 age group swimming 100 metres and running 2 kilometres.
Every entrant receives a Spur IRONKIDS swim cap, Spur IRONKIDS t-shirt, a great Spur and Pritt goodie bag, finisher medal and finisher certificate with their photo.
There are limited slots available for each age category. Entry cost is R195 and will be open until 2 March 2015 or when age groups sell out. Entries to this event normally sell out in less than two weeks, so enter your children and let them join the fun at the world’s biggest IRONKIDS event!
