Springrose Rugby Football Club will be hosting a Golf Day on Sunday, 2 February at the PE Golf Club – PEGC (commonly known as The Hill). Springrose is one of the Oldest Rugby Clubs in Nelson Mandela Bay, founded in 1907. The Club has produced Spingboks at all levels, namely: Solly Tyibilika, Thando Manana, Mzwandile Stick, Mpho Mbiyozo, Lubabalo Mtyanda and Luvuyo Mhlobiso. Off the field, the club had produced rugby administrators such as Dr Danny Jordaan, Dan Qeqe, Khaya Majola, AZ Lamani to name a few.
The Club finished in the Top 3 of the EP Grand Challenge in 2013, this opened the door for them to play in the Community Cup. Springrose will feature in the Opening Game of the 2014 Cell C Community Cup, playing against the Defending Champions – GAP Despatch, in Despatch on 8 March 2014.
Xhanti Lamani, Chairperson the Club of the Club had this to say about the event: “We are very excited about this Golf Day as a Club, we are excited to be working hand-hand with Jongilanga Development Training Centre, it is our way of giving back to the community. The funds raised at the Golf Day will assist the children greatly”

PEGC recently hosted both the SA Men Premier IPT as well as the SA Ladies IPT events which confirms the Port Elizabeth Golf Course as a preferred venue for such high calibre tournament. It is the second oldest registered golf club in South Africa, founded in 1890.
