The news was confirmed by the club’s official website, where it was explained that the Bafana Bafana star’s inner ligament was damaged after a Chilli Boys player fell over his knee.
The news means Tshabalala will miss the highly-anticipated Carling Black Label Cup encounter against arch-rivals Orlando Pirates, set for Saturday.
The 29-year-old could also be out of the MTN8 opener against Mpumalanga Black Aces, scheduled to be played on Sunday, August 3.
Chiefs beat Chippa 4-2 in the pre-season match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, with Tshabalala scoring from the penalty spot, although he could have netted a brace but saw his second penalty saved.
