Police have arrested seven men for three separate gang related shootings over the weekend.
Police spokesman, warrant officer Alwin Labans, said the first incident took place on the corner of Fitchardt Road and Standford Road, at 5.30pm on Saturday.
“Three men approached a group of youths who were standing at the corner, waiting for a bakkie. The men apparently asked them to which gang they were affiliated and then one man drew a gun and opened fire on a 21-year-old male,” said Labans.
Labans said the man was not injured and police arrested the shooter on a charge of attempted murder.
The following day at around 7.30pm, three men entered a premises in Ibex road and confronted a 25-year-old youth inside the house. Shots were fired but the man was not injured and all three men were arrested.
An hour later, Labans said three more men approached a group of men who had gathered in Ibex Street and fired on a 30-year-old man in the group. He also escaped any injury and all three men were arrested.
“All seven men are expected to appear in court tomorrow on cases of attempted murder,” he said.
