PORT ELIZABETH – My Glass, the national automotive and building glass replacement group, has maintained its Level 2 B-BBEE accreditation. This is significant for insurance firms in the context of stricter BEE procurement compliance reporting from 2018.
Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, 2nd August 2017 – Managing director and founder of the My Glass group, Gary Stieger, announced that the company has recently been re-issued with its B-BBEE Level 2 compliance certificate for 2017/18 which is good news for its clients and procurement partners. “There is a growing momentum to ensure compliance, with various statutory bodies including the FSB indicating the need for compliance, it is therefore critical that service providers comprise of as many Level 1 and 2 service providers as possible” says Stieger.
“The revised BEE codes should be raising red flags in the compliance offices of automotive insurers” says Stieger “because the penalties for non-compliance could have far reaching consequences and prejudice their BEE scorecard”
My Glass is facilitating the building of bridges between corporates and SME’s which has translated into significant growth in the regional owner managed fitment center network with several 100 percent black owned businesses having been integrated into the network. The networks service area now covers nearly 80 percent of the country.
Stieger points out that “BEE is not only about compliance. He firmly believes that real economic transformation and job creation at grassroots entrepreneurial level is absolutely critical to the long-term viability and success of the South African economy as entrepreneurs create jobs” furthermore he says “the company has a hands-on approach to nurturing these emerging entrepreneurs, and does all it can to support enterprise development.”
“My Glass already has a large percentage of black owned fitment centers, this demonstrates to other emerging entrepreneurs that there is a real potential for genuine black ownership”
“We commend our clients who have embraced transformation within the glass space,” says Stieger “in general the insurance industry has been very sluggish in truly embracing genuine grass route transformation within the glass industry”
Stieger attributes the growth of My Glass to a business model that is focused on reducing the average cost of claims, lowering the costs of doing business, a convenient 100% fully mobile replacement service, an excellent client experience. The model is supported by a bespoke and innovative online claims management and bordereau system. This system not only simplifies the work of insurers and brokers, but also leads to improved levels of operational efficiencies and client satisfaction.
My Glass recognizes that the consumer’s experience reflects back, not only on My Glass, but also on the insurer or broker businesses. “This is why,” states Stieger “our business is so focused on setting an industry benchmark for service satisfaction in both the consumer and B2B channels.”
