Sandra Prinsloo and John Kani shared the stage for the first time in 1985 when they performed in Miss Julie. And now, more than 30 years later, they will share a stage again – this time in an Afrikaans version of the legendary play Driving Miss Daisy.
So Ry Miss Daisy, translated into Afrikaans by Saartjie Botha, tells the story of Daisy and Hoke, the man hired by Daisy’s son, Boolie, to drive Daisy around. At first Daisy is against the idea of having a chauffeur, but over the next 25 years a special relationship grows between Daisy and Hoke in spite of the colour barrier and their respective social standing.
So Ry Miss Daisy can be seen at the PE Opera House Main Theatre from 05 December 2017 to 09 December. From Tuesday to Friday there will be performances at 19:00 and on Saturdays at 14:00 and 19:00. The play will be performed in Afrikaans.
Daisy is played by Sandra Prinsloo with John Kani playing Hoke. Jacques Bessenger plays Boolie. So Ry Miss Daisy is Directed by Christiaan Olwagen and translated by Saartjie Botha.
So Ry Miss Daisy will run daily at 19h00 from 5 to 9 December with two shows on 9 December at 14h00 and 19h00. Admission is R120.00, Students and pensioners are R90.00.
