Former Nelson Mandela Bay Executive Mayor Danny Jordaan will lead the African National Congress (ANC) on the opposition bench in the Nelson Mandela Bay council.
The ANC Regional Task Team Spokesperson, Gift Ngqondi, says the ANC is ready to assume that responsibility.
The ANC lost the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro to the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the recent local government elections, after the party established a multi-party coalition with the UDM, COPE and ACDP.
Ngqondi says, “It’s very clear that the ANC is now an official opposition in Nelson Mandela Bay council and is ready to assume that role and responsibility. And to realise this new role, we have consolidated a team of men and women in the ANC to ensure that we have experience, and the leader of that caucus is Comrade Danny Jordaan. He will remain as an ordinary councillor of the ANC.”
