Plan your journey ahead road works are set to continue this weekend, The South African National Roads Agency Ltd (SANRAL) would like to advise motorists that there will be night road works (resurfacing) taking place on the M4 on-ramp to Grahamstown. There will also be a detour via Burman.
“Motorists are asked to plan their trips accordingly and to use caution when making use of the road,” said Mbulelo Peterson, SANRAL Southern Region’s Regional Manager.
The roadworks are scheduled for the following nights: Friday 6 May (19h00 to 05h00), Saturday 7 May (19h00 to 05h00) and Monday 9 May (19h00 to 05h00).Motorists are urged to take note of these date to minimize any level of inconvenience towards their destinations.
There will also be simultaneous on going road works on the William Moffett I/C bridge. Stop-and-go measures will be in place to allow traffic to continue passing over the bridge. Resurfacing is scheduled for this period to try and improve the state of some of our roads in the Metro.
Please note that there will always be an access route and exit route via the ramps of the intersection and/or bridges. Therefore traffic will not be on a permanent standstill, measures to allow the flow of traffic to continue have been strongly considered.
