Drove down Heugh Rd and Community Street today and noticed quite a bit of damage to the tar on the roads. I have a feeling that the damage was most probably caused by the burning of tyres etc during the riots.
We have a largely dysfunctional, struggling Metro, where the people who pay very little, in respect to rates, lights and water, find the muscle and behave like thugs to demand better services. The ratepayers now have to cough up even more to pay for the repair done to our infrastructure.
My hope is that the Metro has identified the damage done to our roads and that the patches will be repaired swiftly, before the rain arrives and washes away what is left of the tar.
