Luanda — Angola’s central Kwanza Sul province-based Recreativo do Libolo opened the CAF Champions League competition with a victory after beating South Africa’s Orlando Pirates by 3-1 on Sunday at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, in Johannesburg.
Rooi Mahamutsa scored a consolation goal deep in injury time, but it was too little too late.
Maieco Domingos Henrique bagged a brace for Libolo, scoring in the 12th and 16th minutes.
Henri Camara scored just after the hour mark to make it 3-0, before Mahamutsa scored in the final seconds.
The teams face each other again in the second leg on the weekend of March 2-4.
