South Africa 417 (Faf du Plessis 103) v
West Indies 275-9 (Brathwaite 106, Samuels 101)
Second Test, Day Five, Port Elizabeth
A dangerously wet outfield had forced the umpires to call off play on day five as the second Test match between South Africa and West Indies ended in a dull draw.
The outfield had taken a lot of rain and there were huge puddles of water which left the outfield soggy.
The umpires scheduled an inspection at 11:00 hours local South African time after expressing concern with the conditions of the inner circle. A couple more inspections later, the umpires called off the game at 13:00 hours local time.
Only 201 overs were possible in the five days, where intermittent rain and wet outfield caused frequent loss of play.
Kraigg Brathwaite (106) was announced the man of the match for his excellent hundred.
South Africa leads the three match series 1-0 as West Indies and South Africa head on to Cape Town where the third and the final Test is scheduled to begin on January 2.
