The Port Elizabeth Splash Festival is probably our largest community driven event of the year. The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality uses ratepayer money to kickstart the funding of the event and every year we have the same old question coming up; “What is the tangible and measurable benefit that accrues to the city as a result of the Splash Festival”?
One of the measurable benefits to the city is the number of tourists that that visit our neck of the woods as a direct result of the Splash Festival attracting them here. Sure, there are other benefits such as raising the brand profile but, for the purposes of this exercise it would be interesting to see just how many bed nights accommodation were sold in Port Elizabeth that can be directly attributable to the Splash Festival.
We invite all Guest House, BNB, Self Catering, Camping, Hotel and other Accommodation owners to please give an indication below of just how many bed nights they sold this 2012 Splash Festival Easter Weekend that can be directly attributable to the Splash Festival.
Please send a link to this article to as many accommodation owners that you can.
If you sold more than 20 then please let us know how many via the comments section.
