Port Elizabeth police in the Eastern Cape have arrested 36-year-old man for the possession of mandrax tablets worth thousands of rands.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge, said the suspect was arrested on Tuesday night in Govan Mbeki locality in Kwadesi for dealing in mandrax tablets.
Police seized 1300 mandrax tablets.
“This follows after the Motherwell Operational Command Centre received information of the drugs at a house in the area. On searching the premises, a shotgun round and more than 1300 tablets of mandrax were found,” said Beetge.
The suspect is facing charges of dealing in drugs and the illegal possession of ammunition.
He is expected to appear in the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
