The Search and Rescue Units from Port Elizabeth and Uitenhage are still searching for missing people who were washed away in the weekend floods.
Since Monday police divers and their dogs have been searching for the body of John Smit (19) who was seen being swept off a bridge in Mabandla Road Kwanobuhle.
According to a witness, the teenager was walking over a flooded bridge on Sunday evening , when the heavy current swept him into the raging waters.
The K9 divers have swam with their dogs up to the Swartkops river but have had no success thus far.
The body of a 32 year old Kirkwood man is still missing when he was swept off into the Wit river on Saturday.
The man, known only as Lulama, was with a friend when the incident occurred.
The friend who was also swept into the river was rescued by a person who witnessed the incident.
By the time the good Samaritan could go back, there was no sign of Lulama. The waters of the Wit river are still very dangerous to enter and police will continue the search for him today once the water has subsided.
