Police are on the hunt for two men believed to have been involved in the shooting of Nelson Mandela Bay deputy mayor, Nancy Sihlwayi’s bodyguard, who was wounded in a shoot-out with two robbery suspects last night.
Police spokesman, warrant officer Dumile Gwavu, says the 44-year-old man was attacked by two men in Ntungela Street in Kwazakhele shortly after 9.30pm.
“The suspects drew firearms and shoot out ensued and the bodyguard was hit on the upper body,” said Gwavu.
He said the gunmen then took the bodyguard’s firearm, wallet and cellphone and are still at large.
Gwavu said the man was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.
The deputy mayor was not in the car at the time.
