The PE Opera House Poetry Tuesdays feature is proving to be a popular mid week event in the Bay with the third instalment coming up on the first week of April.
This month’s featured poet Mzuvukile Manxiwa who performs under the stage name Isiswenye Sesihobe is a performance poet and writer who is originally from kuQumbu eMvumelwano and moved to the Nelson Mandela Bay in 1996.
Mzuvukile ‘Isiswenye Sesihobe’ Manxiwa began writing poetry in 2001 and has written to date has 550 poems. He began performing in 2012 having an appearance on Bay TV. In 2013 Mzuvukile appeared as one of the guests in the PE Opera House programme YiYo. In the same year Isiswenye Sesihobe was one of the local poets who performed alongside national acts Ntsiki Mazwai and Jessica Mbangeni at the Imbizo Arts Mandela Bay Book Fair also staged at the PE Opera House. Also in 2013 Isiswenye Sesihobe was invited on numerous occasions to perform at Burning Issues in Mthatha, Eastern Cape.
Between 2015 and 2016 he performed at the Umtata Word Fest (UWF) . Isiswenye Sesihobe was one of the chosen poets in the Eastern Cape to take part in National Word Festival last year (2016) in Grahamstown. In the latter part of 2016 he partook in the Mandela Bay Festival.
He has recently released his debut album entitled ‘Ubukhobaka Bengqondo’ which contains 12 tracks. He is also working on the publication of my Poetry Book which he hopes will be released before this year ends.? Isiwenye Sesihobe has been fortunate enough to have collaborated with a variety of artists from all over Eastern Cape in Musical Poetry, the likes of Nqontsonqa, Bongwez Ndonkose, Gqobhoz’imbawula, Bhodlingqaka and many more.
Isiswenye Sesihobe will be thrilling audiences on Tuesday with a vibrant performance on Tuesday with special features and a showcase of the works from his debut album ‘Ubukhoba Bengqondo’.
