The John Tallant road is now closed close to the intersection with Grahamstown Road and a small check point has been established in order to prevent general traffic from accessing the road unnecessarily.
Unfortunately there are still some who do not heed the signs erected and insist in turning into John Tallant, where they needed to execute a U-turn, but they will soon learn the hard way should they choose to ignore signs and directions.
Roadway excavation beyond the entrance to “Algorax”have commenced and there is now no access possible through to the N2. It is unfortunately a “given” that road construction projects stir up impatience and intolerance emotions in commuters.
John Lochead from AECOM says; “I am sure you all feel frustrated at this time since your routine has been changed and I implore all of you to please bear with us as we fine tune the traffic lights in order to give better flow.”
The intersection will become a cross roads, with 1 minute of green signal for Grahamstown Road and 9 seconds of green for traffic from Transnet and “Algorax” roads.
The Contractor has given a commitment to have the roadway completed by 30 June.
“Let’s hope the weather plays the game and before you know, we will have something to celebrate,” concluded Lochhead.
