There have been some fairly good rainfalls over the last weeks.
However, communities tend to forget the crucial value of water when it is freely available and the daily consumption is slowly creeping up.
The average daily consumption for the last four months (in megalitres):
- May – 246
- June – 250
- July – 235
- October – 264
It certainly appears that most people have lost the urgency to save rainwater.
Residents are encouraged to save at least 10 – 15% on their consumption by harvesting rainwater, recycling gray water etc.
This could potentially extend the 4 year drought cycle to 5 years and possibly prevent restrictions occurring again.
