Cricket fans in Port Elizabeth were given the opportunity on Saturday to rub shoulders with their Protea stars as part of the ‘Love Cricket’ program by Cricket South Africa (CSA).
Love Cricket is like a club. It gives cricket fans privileges and opportunities that take them closer to the game and players on game day.
Cricket fans were literally bowled over and they managed to take full advantage of photo opportunities.
“It’s my first time that I was able to get up close with my sports heroes . I was nervous. I didn’t know what to expect. Getting to know them and how they experience the game, in the locker room was fun,” says an excited fan.
“Meeting all the players was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I will never forget,” adds another fan.
The fast approaching summer is also a big one for the Proteas
Fans were given a sneak peak at the dressing room at St Georges Park.
Protea Batsman, Colin Ingram says: “You see different people’s characters in here that come out, because when you come in here you are locked in and focussed and you are more yourself thatn you are when people are watching you.”
The fast approaching summer is also a big one for the Proteas, as India and Australia are coming.
Ingram adds: “When you play international cricket you want to play against the best. You want to challenge yourself as a team and an individual.”
However the day wasn’t just about meeting the stars, but also becoming part of the cricketing experiences.
