FORMER Port Elizabeth beauty Tamika Doubell is hoping her participation in the high-profile Top Model Worldwide 2012 competition will catapult her towards international stardom.
Doubell, 23, who is based in Cape Town, flew to London on Thursday March 8 where she will compete against contestants from around the world in the competition.
The blonde, a film and media studies graduate from the University of Cape Town, was selected for the competition after submitting photographs and conducting an interview with organisers via Skype last year.
Top Model, now in its sixth year, will host its international showpiece on March 17 at the Hilton Metropole in London.
The former Collegiate High School pupil, the “brand ambassador” for FCM label and Long Street Fashion Boutique in Cape Town, said she was “proud to be part of Top Model Worldwide”.
Doubell trained under Nelson Mandela Bay theatre doyenne Robin Williams and featured in a number of “Showtime” productions. Last year she was part of the Top Billing presenter search.
One of the competition’s major draws is that it offers the winner a coveted slot at London Fashion Week’s catwalk to strut her stuff.
