Political campaigning is in full swing in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro ahead of Wednesday’s by-elections in two wards.
The African National Congress (ANC) has held a rally in Ward 4 in Walmer township following the death of ANC candidate, Nceba Dywili, a week before 3 August local elections.
ANC Spokesperson, Zizi Kodwa, is confident they will retain it.
“Ward 4 is not up for grabs. If you look posthumously, the late Dywili, the number he got on behalf of the ANC, in his name the people of this ward they are going to come out 100% and vote.”
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has, meanwhile, held a door-to-door campaign.
“On 3 August, people voted for a change and as we are going around in Walmer, we are confident that the people are ready for a change. They want to be part of that change and I cannot wait for 9 November when we take Ward 4,” says DA’s Ward 4 candidate Papi Noqoli.
