CAPE TOWN – Eastern Cape Correctional Services Commissioner Nkosinathi Breakfast on Thursday confirmed only two of the three suspects accused of Jayde Panayiotou’s murder are currently at St Albans Prison in Port Elizabeth (PE).
Panayiotou was abducted and killed in PE two week ago and her husband has been arrested in connection with her murder.
“We have got only two suspects in our facility, it’s Christopher and Vumazonke the third is not in our facility,” said Breakfast.
Sizwezakhe Vumazonke is the alleged triggerman and Christopher Panayiotou is alleged to have hired a former bouncer at his pub, Luthando Siyoli, to find the hitman to have his wife killed.
Police have not confirmed claims that Siyoli helped trap Panayiotou in a sting and has now turned state witness.
It’s alleged 31-year-old Siyoli was paid R30,000 to find a hitman to kill his boss’s wife.
Panayiotou’s body was found in the bushes in an isolated area of a Uitenhage township just over two weeks ago.
The three men are back in court on 19 June.
