Over R50,000 raised for NSRI in Mandela Bay

2 October 2012 By Metro Newspaper

Nelson Mandela Bay residents showed their generosity on the weekend, by collectively donating in excess of R50,000 to the National Sea Rescue Institute during their annual Pub and Street Collections over the weekend.

In a statement on their website today, NSRI spokesman, Craig Lambinon, said the Port Elizabeth volunteers held their annual Pub Collection on Friday evening, 28 September and Street Collection at various shopping centres and two traffic intersections (Cape Road William Moffat and Figtree) on Saturday morning, 29 September 2012.

“It was a fantastic success raising a phenomenal record of R50 054.  Thank you to everyone in the Friendly City who supported Sea Rescue,” he said.

Lambinon also extended a special thanks to all the rescue volunteers who spent hours collecting the money and then hours counting it.
